Mr Mom
As I have begun a new chapter in my life, I realize I’m no longer just a photographer. I’m also a dad. Having a kid has brought a whole new perspective to my life as I understand that time is no longer my own. It’s been almost three full weeks since Em went back to work and I took on my role as Mr. Mom. It has not been easy as I have endured numerous blown diapers and countless spit-ups. In fact, a few weeks ago, I posted on Facebook that I had just been hit by a real-life “Poop Tsunami”. I recently heard a comedian talking about raising kids, he said, “There is a reason there isn’t an instruction booklet for raising kids because if there were, we probably wouldn’t have them.”
It seems I am constantly dealing with the unexpected and never quite know if I’m doing something right. Every time I begin to think I have figured out a routine, Eliza changes things up. I guess that’s a good thing as she always keeps me on my toes. I’m trying to be a good great dad. It’s been challenging to balance both the business and be stay at home dad. I am being forced to learn a new routine as I try to continue the growth of the business as well as raise an adorable daughter.
Although raising a child is certainly not easy, I feel it is one of the most rewarding thing I have ever done. The good far outweighs the bad. Each day I spend with Eliza is amazing. She has a smile that just melts my heart. I never imagined I would ever be a stay at home dad, but I’m going to cherish every moment.
As I write this blog post, Eliza is sleeping right by me. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the squeaks and funny sounds she makes as she naps. She is precious and I’m so lucky. Before having a child, I expected that I would just constantly be taking photos of Eliza, but it’s been tough. I’m usually too busy to snap some photos. Today, I had to pull the camera out. Eliza is learning to hold her head up and so I put her in her Bumbo. She loves it! She has so much expression and is such a happy baby! I probably have some bias, but Eliza might be the cutest baby ever!
We are blessed! Here are a few photos from today. Note, the ducky outfit she is wearing has to be one of my favorites! Have a great weekend!
