Minnesota Engagement Photographer–Brian & Sara

Here in Minnesota, things typically slow down for wedding photographers.  This time of year gives me a chance to refresh the business and get things in order for the upcoming wedding season.  I find myself engaged in a lot of personal work with my photography.  However, without fail, I get a few clients that want their engagement photos in the middle of winter.

Coincidentally, it seems that these engagement sessions are scheduled on the coldest days of the year.  This year was no different, but this year I was smarter and decided against shooting Brian and Sara’s engagement photos on our originally scheduled date.  There was something about temps well below zero and wind chills around –20F that didn’t appeal to me.  We pushed the date back a week and were rewarded with balmy temps in the mid to upper 20’s.  It was great to get back out with the camera and working with clients.   I’m really looking forward to their wedding this fall.

Thanks Sara and Brian for a fun afternoon in the snow!

I love the ones with the quilt. Perfect punctuation against the winter tones.

[…] Winter engagement photos can be the perfect time of year for a fun and unique session.  However, as I look out the window, there is snow falling and I’m contemplating shoveling the sidewalks of the several inches of new snow from last night. For me, February in Minnesota  is a difficult time.  The temperatures are too often in the single digits and below, cars drive around caked with salt, and talk of the bitter-cold weather is the topic of nearly every conversation.  It is at this point that the Minnesota winter has lost it’s luster and I’m chomping at the bit for warm temperatures and green grass.  I’ve lived in Minnesota for over 6 years now and never seem adjust to the winter season.
