Match Day!

As many of you know, Emily is pretty much one of the smartest people I know. In fact, she’s so smart that she went to medical school.  Yeah I know what you are all thinking right now…”He’s a gold digger”.  To that I respond, “You’re right, she’s my sugar mama”  However, for the past 4 years I have been here sugar daddy, so it all evens out in the end right?

Well, last Thursday was a milestone in our lives.  It was match day for Em’s residency.  For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the whole residency process, you can read Emily’s blog about it here. This match day letter would decide our fate for the next four years.  Kind of a scary thought. Well, all the Minnesota medical students gathered at the McNamara Alumni Center to open their match letters. I must confess it’s quite a big ordeal as there is so much anticipation in the room.  We gathered at a table with Emily’s 5 other really good med school friends.  It was a memorable occasion.

Em was so nervous.  She even got a little emotional before opening her letters. I watched her tremble as she opened the letter. Our fate has been determined…Emily will be completing her Anesthesiology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. For those of you who may not be familiar, that’s a pretty big deal (I have to brag for her as I’m so proud). So turns out we are staying in Minnesota for at least the next four years. I captured just a few images from this special day.  I also did a little video…just a disclaimer.  I’m no videographer and I don’t have the software but nevertheless, I’m so grateful for capturing this special moment.  Also, I apologize for shooting the start of the video vertically, it must just be the photographer in me.

Congratulations Em!!!!  I love you so much (more)!!!!McNamara Alumni Center
